Spatial Query by Map Extent

This article explains how to perform a spatial query using the current map view (also known as map extent)

Video Here

1. Initiate the Search

Begin by navigating to the AI powered search bar. Use the language "in current map view" to define the geographical area for your search.

2. Define Your Query

In the video example, the query is:

"Show me all properties within my current map view that are zoned for commercial use and have buildings larger than 5,000 square feet."

3. Populate the Criteria

  • Geography: Automatically set to "Current Map View"
  • Zoning: "Commercial"
  • Building Size: Set to greater than 5,000 SF
These criteria will be reflected in the "current criteria" at the top left of the screen.

4. View Results

Once the query is executed, the results will populate on the right side of the screen based on the current map view/map extent. You can zoom in or out to adjust the area covered by the search but any adjustment will require the query to run again.

5. Alternative Method

Aside from using the AI bar, you can also:
  • Drop down the "search parcel" section at the top left of the app
  • Toggle the option "Restrict to Current Map View"
This will automatically apply the current map view to your search criteria.

Summary:

Using the map extent for spatial queries allows for dynamic and location-specific property searches. Whether you're zoomed into a block or viewing an entire city, this method ensures your results are geographically relevant.
